VoIP phone

These days it seems that I am always hearing about VoIP phone and VoIP telephone services. I hear these terms and yet I don't have any clue what it means. I have looked it up and now would like to explain it to all who are as confused about this new technology as I am.

VoIP stands for voice over IP. Basically, all this really means is that you can talk on the phone over the internet instead of the traditional landline phones that are used. The reasons for using this new form of technology are simple.

The first most important reason, at least in my mind is the cost. It costs very little to have a VoIP phone, and there are no extra charges or long distance charges like those associated with landline phone companies. There is just a flat monthly fee, and a reasonable one at that. It costs about $25 per month for this phone service.

The second reason is convenience. This system uses your regular broadband connection, which quite frankly most people have today. If you have a good reliable broadband service, then you should have no problem using this service.

The third reason is reliability. I know most people are afraid the change will cause them to lose connection, but this type of service has been proven to be solid and reliable. This service is just as reliable as any landline that is currently in use today.

Lastly, the installation is quite simple. All you do is take a device that plugs into your computer and then plug your phone into the other side, and after programming a few things into your computer, using asterisk. You are ready to start talking, and without worry. No more having to guess what your monthly bill will be, you can rest assured that this new service is all that they say it is and more.

This VoIP technology can really give us freedom that is unmatched with our current local and long distance providers. We will no longer have to suffer with outrageous bills and unwarranted charges. Now we can fight back and say that we will only pay what is reasonable for a service.

These days it seems that the cost of everything is going up, up, up, so isn't it nice to know that the cost of phone service is now going down, down, down? I think it's great!
