promotional products

For the university I am doing my summer work study opportunity by helping organize and attend the annual logo merchandise tradeshow. Every year the university holds this event where they display all of the new sports products and all of the new clothing lines which they will be running for the next year. It is mostly attended by company reps for other brands and other school who want to either pitch their own products to us or to try to buy some of the same products for their school's product line. I will be in charge of setting up the booth with our promotional products which are given to us by the companies who sponsor us. These are the producers of our school's clothing lines and the various sports merchandising companies. I have to figure out some new and interesting way to distribute promotional gifts and basically pass out the example tradeshow giveaway items. I am not quite sure how I am going to do it, I was just given the position because I am a marketing student. Thankfully I will have a big team of students that will actually do all of the hands on work. When the tradeshow actually happens I will just get paid for attending and troubleshooting any problems that arise. I hope nothing out of the ordinary happens because if that is the way it goes I will get a fun little paid vacation day to walk around and talk to various sales reps. I want to try and put my name out there for the event so that next year when I graduate I can just drop my name to those people I meet at the tradeshow first and see if I get anything good out it. I am sure that these people would be really excited to hire someone who is already trying to sell them free stuff when they come to pitch their products. I still have another two weeks till I meet with my team so I have a little break before the summer work really begins for me. Until then I am going to be relaxing and getting my business suit tailored.
