As a political science major, I am closely following the election that is coming up. I am constantly checking polls online and reading articles about each candidate. I feel that it is my duty to be a well informed voter so I make the best decision come voting time. To make my role as a voter even more important I attend a very politely driven school. University of Wisconsin Madison is always right on top of their political game. We are very liberal and as embarrassing as it sounds now, even the vice president himself, Richard Cheney attended the good old UW. To not take voting serious would be the eighth deadliest sin on this campus. At the start of the fall semester I was offered a internship in Las Vegas with candidate Hillary Clinton. As a political science major it was a great opportunity. There was only one problem, I was not planning on voting for Hillary Clinton. There was no doubt that I was Democratic but I was strongly hoping that Barack Obama was going to take the democratic ticket. To me interning for an unlikely president was a waste of my time, as well as my dignity. Obama recently visited the University to talk about his plans and I was moved by his charisma and honesty. Being from Illinois Barack Obama and I share a common ground. I have followed his political career for awhile and I even plan on helping the with the Illinois Barack Obama campaign over Christmas break. In Florida Obama is predicted to receive the electoral college votes, and I am not surprised. In the huge state of New York Obama is leading the polls and in California Obama is ahead in the polls in a land slide. I am part of the on campus club UW students for Barack Obama, and I continued my loyal support by joining http://www.barackobamaismyhomeboy.com I am able to stay updated with all of the breaking election news. I was even able to buy a Obama shirt to wear around campus recruiting other students to join the site and vote for Obama. The Barack Obama Ohio campaign is also staying very strong. I have being doing lots of campaign research and have not heard much about the Florida Obama campaign, but oddly enough in Texas Obama is leading the way in a normally very Republican state. I think I am going to go back online and buy another Barack Obama T-shirt to wear to my election and voting behavior class; it might stir up a good political debate.
