Installing a home alarm for the holidays

This fall break is going to be something new for me this year. Of course I will still be bogged down by the volumes of work I still have to do by the time I come back, but I will be spending my free time doing something other than relaxing this year. This year my parents had a bit of bad luck and had their house broken in to right around Valentine's day. They live in Philly so their was always a risk of something like this happening but no one ever wants to believe it will happen to them. For us it was especially true because we had lived in the city since I was about six and they are planning on living their for the rest of their lives at this point. Even after the break in they still love the city so much that they wouldn't ever think of leaving. The world series win by the Phillies the other night reminded them that they aren't totally comfortable quite yet with the hoards of people who flocked the streets in celebration. The bitterness of the other night has inspired my father to put in a wireless home alarm system.
I have about two weeks until I will have a whole week off and at that point I will be both helping my mother prepare the thanksgiving feast as well as helping my father research and possibly even install his system. He's limited his search for now to sites like alarmsystemstore.com where he can basically figure out what kind of system he wants down to the last component and then he can either put it in himself or pay someone to put it in the house for him. It's looking to be a pretty hectic week since the house is going to be filled with my whole family for the last half of the week as well. By the the end of the week I am going to be begging my teachers to demand I come back a day or two early to take a bunch of tests I totally forgot about and didn't study for. All right, well, maybe that might be a little bit too harsh.
