This past spring I finally graduated from
college. The last four
years just flew by and I can’t
even imagine what I am going to
do next. I worked
very hard all through school and managed to
stay on
the dean’s list the entire time. There was nothing
like
the moment I was handed my diploma and looked out
at all of the other
people graduating. I swear, the
celebration would have gone on
forever, had I not been
forced to stop by a need for sleep and a
shower. As
the party finally began to die out and people a filed
out
in to the night, my parents and I were the only
ones left. They had
both been sort of reserved all
day and I hadn’t been able to discover
why. I
immediately confronted them thinking they were
beginning
to get an empty nest syndrome or something.
They sat down on the
couch and smiles just started to
burst off of their faces. They
broke the news to me
that they were giving me a big gift for all my
work;
they were sending me around the world for the year and
everything
would be paid for. I had no idea at that
point what to think except
that I was happy I didn’t
have to face the realities of the job
world quite yet.
Two weeks later I left for Europe.
In my
five months of traveling I went to many of the
big cities in Europe
and the middle East. Most of the
places I stayed were great in
how rustic the hotels
and restaurants were. The flip side was what I
saw at
the Dubai
Hotel. The city struck me at first because
it was just this
gem of a place that I didn’t even
know existed except in the
news. I was actually
booked for one of the Dubai
hotel apartments. This
meant I wouldn’t be moving around
from hotel to hotel,
but I had it for the whole month. The lobby
itself
was even stunning with it’s monster fountain and
marble
floors. On the floor in what I believe was
real gold were
engraved the words, Dubai
Apartments.
When I got to my room I just fell in love with it.
From
the view I could see the bay, the golf course,
and all the Dubai
villas in the distance.
