In the mist of finals week I have become a study helper to all of my friends, and each one of them has separate majors. My roommate who is an international business, and international studies major asked me to help her study last Friday night. I agreed on the condition that she would help me with my politics of the world economy final, I figured she has a better background in world trade and the economy than I did. Upon reading her note cards I was very intrigued as to what she was actually learning in her classes. Definitions such as Electronic component marketplace stock trade lead completely threw me for a loop and made me quickly appreciate my less complicated finals. I have actually learned from helping my roommate study. I learned the difference between an active component and a passive component, which is something I could bring up during a conversation with all of my engineer friends. Although their conversations are usually very dry and consist of in-depth debates on electronic component sourcing and IC and semiconductors. I felt that there were times my engineer friends would throw out certain jargon just to make me feel inferior. I decided I was going to throw them off and do some research for myself and learn a little about the day to day language of engineering and even international markets in engineering. I searched "Electronic component sourcing" because I heard my friends discuss it and felt that it might provide me with some answers. A website called http://www.hkinvenroty.com came up so I decided to navigate myself around the site. There were different sections on the web site such as a supplier directory and parts inventory, so I think the site was more geared towards purchases than research information. I was surprised at the China supplier products that they had on their website, it dominated the whole market, and the supplier directory listed china manufacturer numerous times so knew I could discuss China when talking about engineering and international trade with my friends. I did not really spend much time on the site, it was just as confusing as my friends conversations but I did learn something.
