orovo

Posted by Stacy on Thursday, July 31, 2008 11:08 AM

I love Oprah. My roommate and I at school would TiVo Oprah everyday so that we could watch them over and over and she even planned one of her classes around when the show would be on. While some shows are dumb, like people who win the lottery being on it (what are the chances of me winning the lottery? Like none and I don't really want to watch other people who did), some of the shows are really good. Most are about weight loss and eating healthy or about how to get your life together. Almost all of them are inspiring and make you want to be a better person, especially when you see the people that donate all of their time and money (like on Oprahs new show, the big give). So when you see something on Oprah, you know it's legit. There is a brand called Orovo, and their product came from one of their founders watching an episode of Oprah one day. (See how inspiring it is?). A widely known dermatologist featured ten super foods that will help you fight aging and improve your health over all. These ten super foods were used to make the orovo product and are now being marketed. On their website I read that orovo has now expanded a lot since the first ‘ten super foods' concoction and has branched out quite a bit. They have come to make multivitamins, detox supplements and super juice blends.

It's exciting to see that all of this came from an episode of Oprah. It is amazing that one woman can have such an impact on the world. She has a ‘pay it forward' aspect to her and she influences so many others to give and share like she has. Having doctor Oz on the show has made people more aware of their health and bodies and she has so many connections to great people. I have learned so much just from watching that show. She interviews more than just actors and celebrities. She has doctors on her show that inspire people (like Orovo) and also so many foundations and charities and raises awareness for organizations that most people otherwise probably would have never heard of. A lot of people think watching a show like Oprah is corny and stupid, just like any other talk show. But a company like Orovo really shows that you can be inspired to do great things.

Betten in allen Formen Größen Farben Preisklassen.

diet pill

Posted by Stacy on Thursday, July 24, 2008 10:24 AM

If you saw my friend walking down the street, you wouldn't point her out as being particularly overweight. Of course, she could stand to lose a few pounds here and an inch or two there, according to her. She's not as torn up about her weight as many other people I know but it still bothers her from day to day and while she doesn't totally hate her appearance, she feels as though she could do something to help it. Friends of ours have tried, rather unsuccessfully, to recommend she undergo some cosmetic liposuction surgery. She didn't quite receive that idea very well. But she wanted to do something about her excess weight not only for appearance but for health reasons as well.

So when she came to me and said she'd decided to take a diet pill, I was happy for her yet largely apprehensive. None of us, including her, knew much about the effects of diet pills, whether positive or negative. Being the friend that I am, of course, I first asked her why on earth she'd chosen to take diet pills. She told me that she'd opted for the diet pill only as a supplement to diet and exercise and that she had no intention of relying solely on the pills to help her lose weight. I asked if she'd spoken to a doctor and she said no.

I did my own research to see what diet pills were all about, since I'd never taken any myself. I didn't pay as much attention to diet pill ads as I did to actual medical websites, which all basically said the same thing: diet pills work, but they don't work miracles and they work best when use conjunction with good diet and exercise. I wondered if this was where my friend had gotten her information from because everything she had said was on the computer screen in front of me.

The website also mentioned the different types of diet pills and what each did. I found that part particularly important.

This happened a few months ago. My friend decided on a diet pill that would help suppress her appetite. She's been taking it for four months now and is loving the results. She says the appetite suppressant is helping her stick to her healthier diet, and the exercise is boosting her energy. She looks better and says she even feels better too. I guess the negative reputation of diet pills deserves to be disputed after all.

cookie bouquet

Posted by Stacy on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 10:39 AM

I am the kind of person who feels like it's never a bad time to think about getting someone you love a gift. Though we are in the grips of the summer heat and July is just sitting on top of us like a sumo wrestler with an attitude problem, I have been searching the net for some new ideas. The internet never ceases to amaze me in that I can go on every single day of my life from now until the day that I die and I will never run out of new things to see and look at. I guess there are just way more great ideas that any one of us can ever comprehend in our lives.

Anyway, so I was looking the other day for some gifts and I stumbled across something that surprised me. It was a bakery web site that functions solely over the internet. This bakery specializes in sending out something called a cookie bouquet. I know that the cookie tray doesn't seem like a new idea, but what they have is something different. They not only bake their cookie's fresh before they deliver them to the special someone in your life, but they also select cookies based on the holiday. They have Valentine cookie bouquets, christmas design cookies, and they even have easter gifts that can come along with their cookie bouquets. Now I am a total sucker for stuff like this and so I have already pre ordered birthday bouquets for my siblings and some for my parents on Christmas.

These are the kinds of things that make the internet such a wonderful forum for those of us who are not as creative ourselves as we are with our dollar. I can buy great gifts when I find them but ask me to draw anything as a gift and I freeze up like I were looking off the Golden Gate bridge. From now on though I think this will be a staple gift for my entire family because it is just so easy and everyone loves cookies. Show me one person who doesn't like getting fresh cookies brought ot their door and I will show you a person who is just not living life to the fullest.

cheap notebooks

Posted by Stacy on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 10:46 AM

With prices rising on everything so rapidly, sometimes it makes it difficult to figure out how much things should cost. Knowing how much things are going for all around town can make you a smarter shopper. Lately I am realizing that there are many things that my local stores are just charging too much for. I am not sure if this is going on all over the country, or just in this neck of the woods, but lately it seems like every time I turn around, I the price of something or another is up by another .50 to $1 and it has been effecting me so, that many times I hesitate to even buy necessity items.

Lately, I have been shopping around for cheap notebooks and have found so many different prices, I am not sure what a good deal is anymore. The prices are varying so much, I can't be sure that I am getting the best deal, or if I am getting taken for a ride. The prices have actually been lower than I expected not higher, but that just makes me worry about the quality of the item. Well, a friend of mine has steered me away from buying a notebook and says instead that I should take a look at some of the great Dell laptops that are available. She says she bought a refurbished one online for about $400 and that the thing works great. She uses it all the time when she is away at school and that it is wonderful tool for her because she takes it to class with her and enters all of her notes right into it. She says this is a great method for her, because she can actually type faster than she writes. For me, I think I would have to work on my typing skills a little before resorting to taking notes in this manner. In any case, last year I had to always borrow my roommates notebook for projects and reports and stuff, so I really think that this year, purchasing my very own computer will allow me the freedom and independence I need, especially since I will have a different roommate in the fall, and I am not sure if she has a computer or not.

injury lawyers

A few friends and I were waiting to get in at a local bar, when I was struck and knocked onto the pavement by a bouncer who was removing a rowdy customer by carrying him out of the place. Next thing I know I was on the ground, things became a little fuzzy and the next thing that I remember I woke up in the hospital ER. I had to miss a few days off from work and had to get a few stitches in my face, which left a small scar. After the whole thing was over, I called the bar and asked to speak to the owner and was given the run around. I even went over there to try and see the manager and I was still given the run around. Then I decided to send them a certified letter letting them know about the bills that I incurred, but still nothing. Finally, I got really mad and started calling personal injury lawyers, but most of them thought that since my claim was so small, I should just take them to small claims court. The injury lawyers I spoke with said that it would cost me too much and take much longer to do it through them, even though they were no win no fee, they said that their cut would wind up being more than my cut in the end. So I went about it and filed the papers with my local courts, and on the court date, we went, and even though I knew that I was telling the truth, I was so nervous I passed out. Well, they called that session and had us come back in the afternoon. At this point, we each told our story and my medical bills had totaled $952.00 plus my missed work and pain and suffering, I was totaling my claim out at $1500.00, but because of my fainting and all the running and hiding that the bar manager had done, the judge gave me a judgment of an additional $1500.00 for mental anguish, and reprimanded the bar owner, not for the incident which injured me, but for his behavior immediately following the incident. Needless to say, I was not only glad to have my medical bills paid, but to have a little extra in my pocket besides.

asset recovery

Posted by Stacy on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 12:26 PM

My brother has recently started a business where he buys lots of left over out dated computer equipment from a company or the government or a large corporation and then turns around and sells these items a piece at a time to individuals. They call this process asset recovery or government asset recovery in the cases where the items are purchased from a branch of the federal government. I don't know where or how he comes up with ideas for different business, he seems to find some of the oddest jobs to make money at, yet he does make money at them so I guess it really doesn't matter how he comes up with the ideas. I just find the whole concept interesting. I think that there are just so many different ways to make money, but we just don't really realize it.

I guess lately I have been thinking about starting my own business, but I am just not really sure where to begin. There are so many jobs out there that the average person doesn't really think about as things to do for a living. For instance, I have a good friend and he is a political cartoonists. Everyday, he comes up with a political cartoon, relevant to what is happening locally or around the globe and draws it with a catchy one or two liner and that is his job. His is a daily part of the local newspaper and he makes quite a good living doing it, and his stuff is really funny. I have another friend who runs a business selling tractors and tractor parts. There is another woman I know who makes specialty cakes out of her home and sells them to people for birthdays and special occasions. I even saw this woman who started making fake food out of her garage and has made a fortune. Now who could have known that you could make, make believe food for a living and get paid the big bucks. Well, not me! Apparently, when you see those pizza hut commercials or tour a model home, that could be her make believe food on the TV or in the home.

I guess there are so many different outer edge ideas for running your own business or even for choosing as a profession, that it is worth some time and effort to really research them thoroughly before choosing the right path for you.

chocolate gifts

So, I am listening to the radio and I am hearing a Taco Bell commercial and listening to them talk about how we need to have a meal between dinner and breakfast, you know the fourth meal that we need to be eating at midnight. Now, I don't know about you, but I really think that whomever came up with this kind of selling point should be shot. Seriously, don't these people realize that the whole world is overweight, especially those of us living here in America. Don't they feel any personal responsibility to use selling techniques that encourage an overall good for the country? Well, I guess they don't but I think that really there should be limits on these fast food companies, that make them stop up sizing everything and trying to encourage us to eat more and more. Really, we all have a responsibility to play our part in making society better not worse. I am not saying it is their faults that anyone is overweight, but come on trying to sell us the bigger fries, the bigger sodas, the bigger burger, and now even a fourth meal. I do understand it is business and that people really need to start thinking, but I also really think that they should want to put out advertising that promotes health and that doesn't promote over eating as a way to make them more money. I mean don't you think that they could find a way to make tasty burgers and fries with less calories and fat and sugar. Bet ya they could, they could probably get more for them, but why do that when they can just convince us to eat more food as a way to make more profits instead. A few weeks ago and I was at Wendy's and I ordered a meal. Now lately I have been watching the dollars a little more closely so I looked at the price of my meal and it included a small fry and a small soda, and I thought that was fine and the price was okay. When I placed the order, immediately the guy said to me would you like a medium or a large fry and drink. I hesitated for a minute and looked back at the board and said no I just want a small, and so he said okay. He was trying to us size the meal without me even being aware of it.

Don't get me wrong, I still will eat some fast food and I will always enjoy the little chocolate gifts I give myself, but for the most part, I am trying to eat better and watch the up sizing a little more closely.

recruiting software

Posted by Stacy on Thursday, July 10, 2008 9:38 AM

Computers are the wave of the future and for the most part, you can not run a business in this day and age without them. If you really want your business to soar and you want to stay one step ahead of the competition then the best way is to not get more manpower, but to get more out of the manpower you have by giving them the tools they need to do the same amount of work in half the time. Software, if you can find the right programs to suit your business can actually allow you to use about 1/2 the manpower hours with the same or similar amounts of production. The tools you use can make all the difference in keeping your business above the rest.

I have looked into some new software and have recently purchased some software that I have found very helpful in my business. The software package that I purchased includes recruiting software and staffing software. It also has in it an applicant tracking program that I have found very useful. Basically what these tools do is allow you to formulate a database of applicants so that when a job becomes available, all you have to do is put in the qualifications and or qualities of the person needed for the job and just like that the software digs through the database to provide you with the most suitable applicants for the position. This is a really great tool especially if you are working for a temp agency or somewhere where you have a large database of available workers and just a few available positions. Think of the time that having software like this will save you. Could you imagine thumbing through tons of applications just to find the candidate with the correct qualifications for a particular job. It is scary.

I know that I am grateful for all the wonderful advances that technology has made. It is funny to think that people used to think that computers would take over the world. Well, they haven't taken it over, they have just made us have to raise our game a little bit to keep up with them.

promotional items

Posted by Stacy on Thursday, July 10, 2008 9:21 AM

For me at this point, even though I am only a year in to my five year degree, I see business as something that is fairly simple. The thing that people need to learn in business school is just the avenues through which to gain access to certain things as well as how to fill out the monotony of paperwork that goes along with any venture. When I think about business I just think that it all seems so practical and almost a totally common sense type of world. You have an idea you want to make big, you find funding, and you do it. Everything after that is marketing and that is also common sense. Find ways to get you name out and find out which ones work the best. Once you have established something that works such as promotional products in that it pulls in new clients or keeps current ones chaste, then you play that button for all it is worth. Any business uses promotional items whenever they advertise. The jingle to the logo pen are all ways of just getting people to know your name. Once they know your name they are never going to forget it. I bet people remember business names better than they remember the names of new people they meet every day. That part is just about spreading your name wherever it is legal and on whatever scale that you possibly can afford.

I know that it sounds more than a bit cocky to say that I have to whole business world figured out but I really think that I do. I don't necessarily have any of those ideas that I want to make it big with, but I think that I would be better suited to fill in to some kind of a support and management role in an existing firm. At that point the model is still the same though. Keep things flowing out the door and keep pitching your brand at every street corner and in every way possible. I just hope that I find one of those companies that is doing well to be a part of because I don't really want to be a part of the fall of a company. I also have that figured out, but you never want to see it happen around you.

six sigma training

Posted by Stacy on Tuesday, July 01, 2008 8:33 PM

What is six sigma training?

It is an employee training program geared toward all types of businesses. It is a program geared toward achieving excellence and improving the profits of your business. It is considered a culture change for your business which can be felt throughout. Originally created by Bill Smith of Motorola in 1986, Six Sigma was heavily inspired by six preceding decades of quality improvement methodologies such as quality control, TQM, and zero defects.

How does it differ from other employee training programs?

The Six Sigma approach has a clear focus on measurable financial returns, an increased emphasis on strong passionate management, a multi tiered infrastructure and levels including yellow belts, green belts, black belts, master black belts, executive leadership and champions, and a clear commitment to making decisions based on verifiable data and not educated guesses.

What are the differences in the levels?

Executive Leadership - Usually the CEO, owner and others in the upper management tier. They are in charge of setting up the vision to for the Six Sigma implementation.

Champions - Those in charge of managing the Six Sigma implementation in the organization. They also act as mentors to Black Belts. These people are chosen by the executive leadership tier and are usually chosen from upper management.

Master Black Belts - These people are identified by Champions to oversee the Six Sigma implementation in all areas of the everyday business scheme. These employees spend 100% of their time in overseeing the Six Sigma flow in the company on a departmental level.

Black Belts - These employees work on applying Six Sigma to specific tasks and dedicate 100% of their time to the Six Sigma implementation as well.

Green Belts - These employees implement Six Sigma while still performing their regular job duties, they look to the Black Belts for guidance in achieving their overall objectives.

Yellow Belts - These employees have been trained in Six Sigma techniques as part of a corporate-wide initiative, but have not completed a Six Sigma project and are not expected to actively engage in quality improvement activities.

Does It work?

Well, since its development in 1986 many companies including Motorola, GE, Honeywell, in addition to many governmental agencies, health insurance companies, financial institutions and so on have been using these methodologies and have gotten some incredible results. They recommend this Six Sigma training for all employees across the board, from the smallest to the largest businesses. They feel that this is the wave of the future, and that in the future people will need to be armed with the Six Sigma certification in order to get the good jobs.
