What exactly is your research topic?
When I was choosing a research topic, I wanted to find an interesting way to incorporate my large interest in politics, while avoiding the cliché political issues that many students are likely to address. Though I have strong opinions and arguments for cases such as abortion, capital punishment, and gay rights, I realized that focusing on those topics, or many others that are commonly discussed, might not achieve the impact of the message I want to talk about. For this reason, I chose to discuss the economic growth.
Why do you want to write on this topic?
Though there are many individuals in the United States currently aware of the rising economy of China, virtually none of those individuals happen to be anywhere near my age. I think the reason for this is the sheer boredom of the topic. The discussions in the media and many classrooms, if there are even discussions, often use technical jargon about the economy. This usually means nothing to high school and college students. The problem is in the fact that the topic is something students need to be aware of. The economic growth of China and India currently poses an enormous threat on the future of the US economy that could affect today’s students more than anyone.

What do you hope to accomplish by writing on this topic?
By writing on this topic, I hope to inform more students about the truth in the world around us. We need to stop having the misconception that we are the sole superpower, and will forever be superior to other countries. Though I am not trying to terrify my audience into pessimistically believing WWIII will happen by 2008, and the world will come to an end. They need to understand, however, the risks that we as Americans face with growing eastern economy.
What is your purpose in adding a thread to the conversation surrounding this topic?
The majority of the threads currently surrounding this topic have been covered by a group of very intelligent economists, who do not relate to college students in the slightest bit. I hope to change that. I want my paper to be aimed directly at those students, and I want to give them a reason to listen to the subject. I think I will be able to relate the subject to them more, and have a greater influence on what they think about it.
Why might this topic be important for others?
This topic is important for everyone. The economic stability of the US depends, in a large part, on the economies of other countries. If US companies begin outsourcing jobs for half the cost in India, those are American jobs being lost. It is important to know what is happening, so we can find a way to prevent it from happening to us.
